History of video game

The first video game, if we call, was developed in 1962 by Russell slug, Martin Graetz and Wayne Witanen, Member of the Ingham Institute Massachusetts, USA. Based on prototypes of various equipment, they decided to create something useful for your free time. Thus was born, the first electronic game, Spacewar.
After a period of ten years, the first video went on sale to the United States. It was the Odyssey, prepared by Magnavox in 1972. It was "dark age" of the video that the players had to have enough imagination. Squares on the screen have been people, ships, etc.
Shortly after the launch of the Odyssey, came the phenomenon that everyone normally combine the history of video games: the Atari. Designed by Nolan Bushnell in 1978 and released to the United States in 1983 to, the Atari 2600 is regarded as a cultural symbol of the 1980s and a sales phenomenon. After the fall of Atari in the early 1980s, Nintendo began to build their empire. Their first successful sale was the console Famicom, 8-bit, which was renamed NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). Some NES games were made truly famous, such as Mario and Donkey Kong, for example.
Nintendo has grown and consolidated itself as the largest in the world of the consoles, Sega, another Japanese company, also developed. To compete with the NES, the company released the Master System.
Knowing that they would not exceed Nintendo in the war of 8-bit, in the early 1990s Sega has developed a new 16-bit console: the Sega Mega drive. The leader, Nintendo, obviously entered the fray and launched one of the greatest successes in the history of the video: Super Nintendo. It is one of the classic episodes of the history of video games. The Sega console had more games, the Nintendo was more advanced and had better graphics. After all, who ever heard speak of the dispute between Mario and Sonic, Nintendo and Sega, respectively?
After this long dispute, just a new strong competitor in the gaming world: in 1995 Sony, giving rise to a new generation of consoles with the PlayStation. At this stage, SEGA launched its 32-bit Saturn without success. In the same year, Nintendo has surprised the world announcing the N64, with 64-bit graphics! Another important is Sony's PlayStation, which has a large library of games, became the leader of the generation, with 100 million consoles sold.
The latest generation of video games is known by the children. This impressive on PlayStation 2, Sony, released in 2000, which continued the success story of the PlayStation, to read the format on DVD media. The GameCube, Nintendo, as the natural successor to the N64 in 2001 and the new Xbox, software giant Microsoft.
The last generation of consoles is summarized in the three versions of the same manufacturers of the previous generation. The dispute between the PlayStation 3, Sony, Wii, Nintendo, Xbox 360, Microsoft, it seems that will last long. If Sony to wait (much) for the PS3 launch with its futuristic graphics, Nintendo has its huge collection of old games, more an innovative way to play. Microsoft also has extensive experience in the world of software, that can provide significant advantages in this competition.
Video games are so successful today that from 1999 to 2004, the gaming industry earned $ 21 billion, more than twice the income of all the movies of Hollywood in the same period. And, as we see it, they will continue to entertain us for a long time to come.
What will become the next generation of game? All what we can do is wait.
